Forum Title: First time need advice
Hello, first time carpet buyer here and I'm finding it all fairly overwhelming. The amount of options and choices is mind numbing. Had a professional installer visit, who was very nice but slightly rushed, and quote our project. Here are some specifics before I get to far. Geographic Location: Chicagoland area Project Location: 4 bedrooms and closets located on second floor of single family home. Typical stick construction with dimensional floor joists and wood subfloor. Home age is approximately 15 years. Family Demographics: 2 adults, 9 year old, 2 dogs. We were quoted: Shaw Well Played I & II Mohawk Stylish Story I, II, III 8 pound 1/2 rebond pad Don't really know anything about either carpet, where they sit in quality, are they appropriate for bedrooms, would a pro put this in their home in this situation. Should we look at anything else? Generally we like the look and feel of both but want something to last in the 10-15 year range. I don't want to spend money just to spend but I'd like to make sure we're getting what's appropriate. Thanks and I hope I provided enough info.

The polyester won't hold up as well as nylon, it's low traffic, but will mat down in traffic lanes anyway, I prefer other flooring in hallways and carpet in bedrooms but to tie stairs in with other type of flooring may look chopped up.

No hallways or stairs, those are hardwood. Only rooms getting carpet are bedrooms and closets.
